Introducing blog post support in Replo

Today, we’re announcing support for editing Shopify blog posts in Replo!

Since Replo launched, one of the most consistent pieces of feedback we’ve heard from Replo customers is that while Shopify blog content can be a huge driver for content marketing and SEO, it’s hard to style and edit.

If merchants want to insert non-text content into their posts (for example, a product feature with a “Buy Now” button in a recipe blog post) they have to resort to expensive custom-coding solutions or try to work around Shopify’s limitations using workarounds.

We’re pleased to announce that all types of Replo content, including products, customizable interactions, and animations are now available when you edit a Shopify blog post with Replo.

Creating a blog post in Replo

Getting started with blogs in Replo is simple: the same way you create a page, you can now create a blog post.

  1. In the Replo editor, find "Blogs" in the left-side menu.
  2. Click the "+" button to add a new blog post.
  3. Configure the settings for your blog post - you can set a title, featured image, SEO meta description, and more. If you have multiple blog feeds on your store, you can also choose the feed to add the post to.
  4. Click "Choose Template" to choose a template to start your post with
  5. Click "Create Blog" to create your post.

Blog templates and settings

Each new blog post uses the blog template from your Shopify theme (this template is usually where the blog post’s title, author, and featured image are shown).

From the settings button in the Replo editor header, you can configure all kinds of data about your blog post - the title and path are editable, just like pages, and you can also edit the post excerpt, featured image, and SEO data.

Adding content to blogs

It’s very common for content authors to write post content in other applications, like Google Docs or Notion, and paste it into Shopify to publish. We’ve extended the Text component in Replo to allow pasting in rich text content from many of these platforms so that you can write your content wherever you prefer, and add animations, product features, or any other kind of Replo component after pasting your copy into Replo.

Conclusion

We want to give special thanks to the merchants that beta tested this feature. If you have questions about how blog posts work in Replo or how to get started, feel free to reach out to us at support@replo.app.
