Store metrics
What is a conversion rate?
Conversion rate is the share of visitors who complete a goal, usually a purchase: conversions divided by sessions.
Formula
Conversion rate = orders ÷ sessions × 100
150 orders from 10,000 sessions is a 1.5% conversion rate. At the same traffic, 2% would mean 50 more orders.

Conversion rate questions
- How do I improve my conversion rate?
- Find where shoppers stop. A heatmap shows what they click and how far they scroll; an A/B test tells you whether a fix worked. Start with the pages that get the most paid traffic.
- Should I measure conversion rate by sessions or visitors?
- Sessions is the most common, and it's what Shopify reports. Visitors gives a higher number because one person may visit several times. Pick one and compare it with itself.
