The Challenge: Prioritizing Speed Without Shopify Pages Or Developers
Unlike many other health drink brands out there, Jose was intentional about only offering a single hero product from Day 1. This meant he could greatly reduce the different types and categories of pages required, and focus his efforts on testing a wide range of variants and campaigns for the same product.
As an early startup, speed—both for launching new experiments and creating new page versions—was critical to Healthy Metal’s success.

Traditional ecommerce set-ups meant relying on developers for every site change; it was a major bottleneck that could slow down iteration cycles and drain limited startup resources.
Jose experimented with other page builders, such as Framer and Unbounce, but found them either too complex to use or restrictive due to pricing models based on page views or sessions. For a brand planning to build an entire website—not just landing pages—on a custom page builder, session-based pricing would quickly become prohibitive.
Not only that, Jose wanted to create an online shopping experience that was personalized to the brand.
In order to stand out among competitors and strengthen its identity as a premium health-drink, Healthy Metal needed control over every element on the page, and the ability to swap designs as needed.

The Solution: A Replo-Built Store With Relentless Testing
Jose made a unique choice: he decided to build Healthy Metal's entire website on Replo, using Shopify exclusively for backend checkout links. This approach gave him complete control over every customer touchpoint while maintaining the flexibility to A/B test, iterate, and create campaigns at will.

The real magic happened with A/B testing. On just his core “Free Trial, Just Pay Shipping” offer page alone (which runs as an evergreen campaign with paid traffic from Meta), Jose has run at least 50 to 100 tests and counting.
The process has been systematic:
1. Duplicate a page in Replo to create a variant
2. Split traffic using A/B Convert (a separate Shopify app)
3. Measure results and roll out the winner
With this process, Jose was able to A/B test countless elements for both flash sale and free trial offer pages. Between the two campaigns, he covered everything—from banner colors to messaging to section design—to build incremental conversion gains over time.
While scaling paid ads can lead to lower conversions (as the brand is now casting a wider net for shoppers and targeting people outside their best target audience), this process of rigorous and hyper-focused testing has continued to drive substantial results for Jose.

The Result: A Testing Machine That Drives Business Growth
Since the brand first launched, their “Free Trial, Just Pay Shipping” page has seen over 50% conversion rate improvement from its original version—gains compounded from dozens of incremental wins over time, and the brand has uncovered countless insights through steady experimentation.

For last year’s Black Friday Cyber Monday, Jose duplicated his homepage and customized the shop section to test different versions of his “Buy One, Get One Free” offer. This approach meant shoppers landing from BFCM ads or email blasts saw exactly the offer they clicked on—a best practice many brands who don’t utilize landing pages tend to overlook.
In many cases, it is this offer continuity that ensures higher conversion rates in the long run.

One of Jose's most impactful A/B tests came from a suspicion: his subscription pricing (with monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly subscriptions) was too high for customers converting from a free trial. Rather than guessing or just reducing pricing without understanding the full implications, Jose tested it.
He created duplicate products in Shopify with lower prices, built a variant welcome offer page and a variant homepage in Replo featuring these new products, and split-tested it against pages with the original subscription pricing.
"The conversion rate of the lower price was way higher—it just offset the drop in revenue and profit. We actually managed to increase profit per user just by lowering prices, because so many more people came through the door."

As any seasoned ecommerce owner can guess, conversion rates did increase, given the drop in pricing. What was surprising, however, was how far the conversion rates increased by—enough so that the total increase offset the drop in average order value, and actually led to an increase in profit per user.
The results were astounding. On the welcome offer page, conversion rate increased by 67%, profit per visitor increased by 50%, and revenue per visitor increased by 54%.
It was an insight that Healthy Metal never would have realized, if not for the experiment (one of many, of course!) Jose ran.
