Getting started

Landing Page A/B Testing

Name one change to test. Replo builds the second version, splits visitors between the two on one link, and reports which one sold more.

  1. Choose your landing page
  2. Name the one change to test
  3. Pick the conversion that counts

What it does

Most landing page tests never start. The second version needs a designer, the testing tool needs a developer, and the ad budget keeps flowing to a page nobody has checked.

Replo runs the whole loop. Tell it what to test, such as the offer, the headline or the hero image, and it builds the variant on your brand. A/B testing splits visitors between the two versions on the same link, so your ads don't change, and the result shows which version sold more. Change one thing per test; a test of everything answers nothing.

How it works

  1. Builds the variant from your page, changing only what you named.
  2. Shows you both versions side by side before anything goes live.
  3. Starts the test: visitors on the same link are split between the two versions.
  4. Estimates how long the test needs from your page's real traffic.
  5. Reports which version sold more, and says when the result is still too close to call.

What you get

What the test handoff looks like:

The variant is ready: same page, but the hero leads with 3 months free instead of 15% off. Visitors on your current link are split 50/50, so your ads stay as they are. At this page's traffic, give it about two weeks before reading the result. I'll tell you if it's still too close to call then.

Best practices

  • Start with the offer, then the headline, then the hero image: test what a shopper notices first.
  • Change one thing per test. If the variant changes the offer and the headline, a win can't tell you which change did it.
  • Run every test for at least one full week, so weekday and weekend shoppers both count.
  • Pick the metric before the test starts. Purchases beat clicks: a headline can win clicks and lose sales.
  • Keep the ad the same while the test runs. A new creative mid-test changes who arrives on the page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate A/B testing tool?
No. A/B testing is built into every published Replo site. Replo builds the variant, splits visitors on one link and reports which version sold more. A testing app you already use can still run alongside it.
How long should a landing page test run?
At least one full week, and until each version has enough visitors for the gap between them to be real. Replo estimates the length from your page's traffic before the test starts, and tells you when a result is still too close to call.
Can I test a page that my ads send traffic to?
Yes. The test runs on the page's own link, so your ads keep pointing at the same URL and nothing in the ad account changes. Visitors are split between the two versions as they arrive.
Is a split test the same as an A/B test?
Mostly. Both compare two versions of a page by sending part of the traffic to each. Some teams say split test when the versions live at two different URLs. In Replo, both versions share one link.
Can I see where shoppers click on each version?
Yes. Heatmaps are live on every published Replo page, so you can see where shoppers click and how far they scroll on each version while the test runs.
