Turn a payment link into a sales page
A payment link takes the money. A page around it makes the sale. Here's how to set up both in an afternoon.
- Works with
- Stripe, PayPal and Square payment links
- Replo's cut of sales
- None
- You need
- A payment link and a few lines about the offer
What a payment link is
A payment link is a web address that opens a checkout for one product or one amount. Stripe, PayPal and Square all let you make one in a few minutes, with no store and no code. Send it in a message, put it in your bio, or put it behind a button.
The link is only the checkout. It shows a name, a price and a pay button. Someone arriving from an ad or a post usually wants to know what they get, who it's for and why it's worth the price before they pay. That's the sales page's job.
How to sell with a payment link and a page
- Create the payment link in Stripe, PayPal or Square, with the product name and price, and copy it.
- In Replo, create the product with the same name and price, and paste the link as its checkout.
- Ask Replo to build a sales page around the product. Every buy button opens your payment link.
- Publish the page on your domain, then send your ads and posts to the page, not the bare link.
- Add UTM tags to the link so your analytics shows which page each sale came from.
What the page around the link needs
- One line on what the buyer gets
- The price, the same as the link's
- Who it's for, and who it isn't for
- Proof: reviews, results or a sample
- Answers to the two or three usual doubts
- A buy button in every screenful on a phone
When a payment link beats Replo checkout
Replo can also take the payment itself. A payment link wins when you need recurring billing or already run everything in one provider.
| Payment link | Replo checkout | |
|---|---|---|
| Where buyers pay | The provider's hosted page | A Stripe checkout on your own site |
| Recurring billing | Yes, where the provider offers it | No, one-time prices in USD |
| Delivering a file | Set up in the provider | Emailed the moment they pay |
| Orders | In the provider's dashboard | In Stripe, with your store's order emails |
| Replo's cut of sales | None | None |
Frequently asked questions
- What is a payment link?
- A payment link is a web address that opens a checkout for one product or amount. You make it in Stripe, PayPal or Square and share it anywhere: a message, a bio, an email or a button on your site.
- Does Replo create payment links?
- No. You make the link in Stripe, PayPal or Square and paste it into Replo. Replo builds the sales page and points every buy button at your link, so the payment and the order stay with your provider.
- Do Stripe payment links cost extra?
- No. Stripe includes Payment Links at no extra charge on its standard pricing, which is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful US card charge. Replo takes no cut either way. Check PayPal's and Square's pricing pages for their fees.
- Can a payment link take a subscription?
- Yes, if your provider supports it. A Stripe payment link can charge a recurring price, and a Replo page can point its buttons at that link. Replo's own checkout takes one-time payments only.
- Should I use a payment link or Replo checkout?
- Use a payment link for subscriptions or if your sales already run through one provider. Use Replo checkout to sell digital products and simple items with checkout on your own site and the file emailed to each buyer.
Build the page around your link
Fill in the brackets and send it. Replo builds the sales page and points every button at your link.
Your first message
Create a product called [product name] at [price]. Use this payment link as its checkout: [your link]. Then build a sales page for it: who it's for, what they get, three reviews, and a buy button in every section.
