Zelle payment link: what to use instead

Zelle doesn't make payment links. Here's what it does instead, and what to use to sell to strangers.

Why Zelle has no payment link

Zelle has no payment link. It moves money between US bank accounts, and you can request money only from someone already enrolled, by their email or US mobile number.

Zelle payments can't be reversed, and Zelle's own advice is to send money only to people you know and trust. To sell to strangers, use a Stripe, PayPal or Square payment link, which take any card.

How to get paid with Zelle instead

  1. Open your bank's app, or the Zelle app, and choose Request.
  2. Enter the payer's email or US mobile number. They must be enrolled in Zelle.
  3. To sell online, make a Stripe, PayPal or Square payment link instead.
  4. Put that link behind the buy button on a sales page.
Replo docs: ask Replo to create the product with the prompt 'Use this Stripe Payment Link as its external checkout', and Replo points its Buy Now button at your Stripe checkout

Paste the Stripe link into Replo's chat, and every Buy Now button on the page opens it.

What getting paid with Zelle costs

Zelle is typically free for consumers; check with your bank. A seller link costs a fee but takes any card:

The seller links are 66¢ apart on an $80 sale, so pick the app your buyers already use.

What Zelle can't do for a sale

  • No payment link at all
  • Requests only to enrolled users
  • US bank accounts only
  • Payments can't be reversed
  • Send only to people you trust

When a link alone isn't enough

Visitors want to know what they get before paying. Replo builds that page and points its buttons at your link.

Frequently asked questions

Does Zelle have a payment link?
No. Zelle sends money between US bank accounts and can request money only from people already enrolled, by email or US mobile number. To take payment with a link, use a Stripe payment link, PayPal or Square.
Does Zelle charge fees?
Typically not for consumers. Zelle says most people pay nothing to send or receive money, and to confirm with your bank or credit union. A seller link costs about $2.62 to $2.94 on an $80 sale, but takes any card.
Is Zelle safe for selling to strangers?
It's a poor fit. Zelle payments can't be reversed, and Zelle itself says to send money only to people you know and trust. Buyers you don't know are safer paying through a card checkout like Stripe, PayPal or Square.
Can Replo take Zelle payments?
No. Replo builds the sales page and points every buy button at a checkout link you paste in, such as a Stripe, PayPal or Square payment link. For one-time digital products, Replo checkout can take card payments too.
Where do these steps and fees come from?
From each company's own pages: Zelle: Frequently asked questions, Stripe: Pricing, PayPal: Merchant fees, Square: Our fees. Fees change, so check them before you set a price.
