What a Square payment link is

A Square payment link is a web address that opens a Square checkout. You pick what it does: collect a payment, sell an item, accept a donation, or sell an event or class.

You make it in Square Dashboard or the Square Point of Sale app, and share it as a link, a QR code, a buy button, an email or a social post. Sales show up per link in your Square reports.

How to make a Square payment link

  1. In Square Dashboard, go to Payments & orders, then Payment links, and click Create link.
  2. Choose Collect a payment, Sell an item, or Sell an event or class, and click Continue.
  3. Add a title and price, set one-time or recurring, and add a picture, tips or up to two fields.
  4. Click Save, then click Share to copy the link or its QR code.
  5. Put the link behind the buy button on a sales page, so buyers see what they get first.
Replo docs: ask Replo to create the product with the prompt 'Use this Square link as its external checkout', and Replo points its Buy Now button at Square checkout

Paste the Square link into Replo's chat, and every Buy Now button on the page opens it.

What a Square payment link costs

What Square can't do for a sale

  • Events and classes: Dashboard only
  • Up to two custom fields
  • Redirect set in Dashboard only
  • No tax or shipping abroad
  • Deleting a link can't be undone
  • No page to explain the offer

When a link alone isn't enough

Visitors want to know what they get before paying. Replo builds that page and points its buttons at your link.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Square payment link cost?
Nothing to create. Square charges its online processing rate on each sale: 3.3% + 30¢ on the Free plan and 2.9% + 30¢ on Plus and Premium, so an $80 sale costs $2.94 or $2.62. Compare orders in the payment processing fee calculator.
Can a Square payment link charge on a schedule?
Yes, for link types that allow it. When you create the link in Square Dashboard, set its frequency to recurring instead of one-time, and buyers are charged on that schedule.
Can I make a Square payment link from my phone?
Yes. In the Square Point of Sale app, tap More, then Payment links, then the plus. The app makes links to collect a payment, sell an item or accept a donation; events and classes need Square Dashboard.
Can Replo make the Square payment link for me?
No. You make the link in Square and paste it into Replo. Replo builds the sales page around it and points every buy button at your link, so payments and orders stay in your Square account.
Where do these steps and fees come from?
From each company's own pages: Square Support: Create and share payment links, Square: Our fees. Fees change, so check them before you set a price.
